My approach to therapy

I offer both talk-therapy approaches and guided experiential processing for concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, anger, body image and disordered eating, substance use, trauma/PTSD and attachment wounds, and relationship conflicts.

Talk therapy approaches allow us to gently explore, unpack, and process emotions, beliefs, and experiences. Individuals and couples can gain a greater awareness of current concerns, what influences them, what softens them, and develop new insights, perspectives, and behaviours to lead toward meaningful change.

Guided experiential exercises allow individuals to “go deeper” into your internal world. For this, I use IFS-informed therapy, mindfulness, and somatic therapy. These exercises can offer nervous system resourcing and soothing, increase your connection, trust, and confidence with yourself, as well as offer attachment repair to heal protective patterns learned through surviving past trauma and long-held wounds.

I also hold anti-oppressive values and apply these approaches to identify how social power systems influence your mental health and relationships. This approach often helps individuals find space to let go of unhelpful and untrue social stigma and pressure, and learn to move through the world in a way more authentic to themselves.

I work transparently and in collaboration with each individual and couple when applying these evidence-based approaches to ensure that it fits each person and couple’s unique needs.

At the core, I truly believe that a strong therapist-client connection is the most important factor for therapy to be effective.
